“Sega has now sold over 8 million units of Sonic the Hedgehog on mobile in Europe and the US” says ME.
I’ve always said, and remain to, that SEGA on mobile gaming would be a killer publisher…
For many reasons:
- SEGA is known by everybody, eveywhere
- The brand is considered very positively… I always got smiles from people I met during more than 2 years
- The same for Sonic: well known and loved by young and older!
- Game concept: many of SEGA games are adapted to mobile handsets… Like Sonic, ChuChuRockets, Alex Kid and many others… Sometimes you just need one thumb and that’s it! Don’t ask for more to someone who wanna play 5 minutes on his phone.
- SEGA has developed in Japan a HUDGE business, with a river of games… Once well co-ordinated, in Europe for sure and in America, SEGA could be one of the unique competitor face to EA, which has to me the biggest potential to be the n°1 without any discussion, as well as on PC and console.

Notifixio.us is a new venture launched last February by a French creative guy living in San Francisco, Julien Genestoux.
Notifixio.us (pronounce notifixious) is a notifiction tool. RSS technology from Julien’s point of view is not used a lot so this is an example of simple tool…
How does it work?
- Select your favorites sources of information on the web : blogs, news sites, webservices (online banking, twitter…), social platforms ( LinkedIn, Seesmic…)
- Enter your favorite communication tools : email, instant messaging (MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Skype…), SMS, or even your facebook account
- And be notified on these communication tools when a something new happens in any of your favorite source!
You wanna get an invite: follow Julien on Twitter and ask him an invite!
And come back to give your feedback!!!
Simple tools on web are really good to promote!

I blocked all applications on Facebook to avoid unexpected sollicitations.
And this is things I’ve learned while I was checking a friends profile:
- I’m Silicon Sentier addicited… big fun, you can’t imagine…
- Value: $1,736… Is that a lot? Oleria has a much more important one so I don’t know what it means…
- Cash: $2,617… again same question…and what is the difference between Cash and Value? A new IFRS definition?
84 slides for Widget! May 25, 2008

Widget are becoming commons now, and for example on mobile there is a big competition at the moment on this area, like with this French intra-challenge between Netvibes, Goojet or Webwag.
The idea here is to say: it’s much more than widgets. Ok. So my question is: what is a widget?
You have 84 slides to understand. Watch this out! New trend!
Why should I organize a new Barcamp: OpenCamp in Paris June 28th! May 24, 2008
Posted by philj in Web.4 comments
A good story is composed from several items:
- the aim
- the people
- the location
I don’t have any obsession to organize events, neither ambition nor any other kind of obligation.
Just the will to share, collaborate, initiate.
Regarding Barcamps, I just love the concept: this format is changing the views you can have from a topic, and interactions between people. They give possibility to ANYBODY to talk an that’s good because you often meet the same people within the sphere. And they are not always necessarily the best one to give messages.
That’s one of reasons why a Barcamp theme cannot be owned by any person neither association. It was good to see that the VideoCamp concept I have initiated in Paris with Mathieu Coste was interesting for some people… so interesting they could not wait for our first chapter and make their own event before!
- the aim
Web is becoming a complex stuff. More and more innovations as always in IT but not necessarily made simple neither dedicated to end users. Mixing marketing and innovation can be dangerous. Everybody want to propose his horizontal social platform. Is that really about money in fact? I have the feeling that Internet is creating a big gap between services I can support and mass users.
- the people
I know Christophe Ducamp now for a few time (maybe a year…) but with intensive chapters. So I know him well. He’s representing OpenID in France, with a strong capacity to explain simply complex problems. He knows many people! Patrick Chanezon is one of the most inspiring guy I met, API evangelist for OpenSocial at Google, he’s very convincing and smart, and he’s in Paris for 2 weeks end of June.
- the location
Philippe Nieuwbourg is an expert in Information Technology topics for a long time now, and he has created the equivalent of the Computer History Museum (Mountain View, USA) at La Defense on the roof of La Grande Arche, Le Musée Informatique. I have discovered his Museum last year and I really wanted to organize something with him there…
Just a detail but Le Toit de la Grande Arche is also the Toit Citoyen (could be translated at Citizen Roof) which is the official place for Works Council people.
We were in Google (GeekTripSFO), end of March during the study trip I’ve organized, Mountain View, and after more than one hour of discussion with Patrick Chanezon, he told us he will be in Paris at the end of June. I just said to myself that this “Open” thing (Christophe, part of the team, is evangelizing a lot regarding OpenID) would be great to organize. Then I remembered Le Toit de La Grande Arche. Then I asked Christophe Ducamp if he was interested to do it with me: he has a deep vision on past, current and coming status of Internet, and ha has a lot of things to say… Then I called Philippe, and get his final approval to organize at La Grande Arche.
This is the story. My new Altaide Valley project maybe won’t let me the possibility to be in Paris at this period. Anyway I’ll manage the event with Christophe as much as possible!
Big deal I think!

12seconds, a new video project May 21, 2008
Posted by philj in Web.add a comment
12seconds.tv is all about short video updates of your life. Share what’s up or where you are using the magic of 12 second video clips. 12seconds… Keeping it pithy since 2008!
1st video here…
Testing 12 seconds
It seems the embed code not working yet perfectly so you have to click on the link to see the interface and start to sign up.
I still have few invites if you’re interested.
What is 12seconds?
12seconds lets you create and share short video updates with your friends and family. You can use your web-cam or your video cell phone to make them. You get 12 seconds for each update.
Why 12 seconds?
There is no particular reason why it’s 12 seconds and not 10 or 15. 12 is a good number. We like 12. But the main idea here is to keep things quick. To keep things pithy. You can sing “Happy Birthday” in 12 seconds, you can share moments of your vacation in 12 seconds. You can show people where you are or tell them what you’re up to in 12 seconds. If you need more time, record another one. Be creative; we think you’ll find that 12 seconds is plenty of time.
12seconds and Twitter
The alpha version is designed to use Twitter as a way to update your friends about your new videos. If you register your Twitter account with us on the 12seconds settings page, every time you post a video update here, we’ll update your Twitter with a new post.
Who is 12seconds?
12seconds is a wee side project for some Santa Cruz, CA geeks.
The Blog is here.
The pixel is good, being compelled to talk through this 12 seconds format is like texting in less than 140 characters!
That’s a detail but I liked this follow-up on invites, to know if fellows have subscribed or not.
The social feature is simple… not viral yet… Seesmic has some months of advance on this kind of project, but I like their vibes!
Hope to meet them in June.
